Kashmir

Kashmir, the land that is part of two countries but feels as if it is its own, whether on one hand, India holds on to it, but blames terrorist attacks within non-Kashmir India on automatically, and in the other, Pakistan, where there is not enough resources to feed the Kashmiri population.

Even though this land is still one at war, walking through the villages, there is a feeling of calm and  happiness of a people glad of a moment of peace, who appreciate even an absence of killings on newspaper headlines that many take for granted. It does not feel like India, nor does it feel like Pakistan. With its own culture, government, and language, it is still not its own.

This is Kashmir.
